Garters Are Back
If you’ve been following me on Instagram you know that this is garter no. 1725 and the first garter I’ve made since October 2014. I suppose I thought I was done forever, but forever is a long time, and the giant box of ribbons that has lived under my bed for over the last decade has been calling my name. I don’t want to return to what I was doing between 2008 – 2014 that led me to burn out on ribbonwork. This will be a try and see. So most of my writing lately has been about art. Art is that thing that I rebelled against for so so long, but have been doing an awful lot of this year. Sew Along Aftermath; Intimidation and Inspiration
The sew along of the 1911 corset has had some interesting effects on me. First off it was really good for me to do something different and challenging just for the heck of it. I cannot recommend it enough. If your life is feeling a bit stale or you are stuck in a rut, go find something to do that challenges you. vintage slip
after weeks/years of “too busy” and fretting over my aged wardrobe, i decided to spend the weekend making some things for myself. here is one of my finished projects: i have been enamoured of vintage slips forever. you know the ones: black taffeta, cut on the bias, great for layering or wearing on their own. i have loved many to death. the inevitable rips that are repaired and modified and repaired until the whole things is tattered and in shreds. they languish unwearable in my closet, because i cannot bear to throw them away. whenever i go to vintage or thrift stores, i am constantly on the lookout for a…
