About Piper Ewan
Piper Ewan is a couture fashion design company that was started in 1998 by Kirsten A. Moore. My focus is on traditional sewing techniques in modern style. All of my designs are drafted in pencil on paper, hand cut, sewn and finished using traditional couture finishing techniques with strict attention to detail. The flowers are made from pieces of ribbon or fabric, and hand sewn with a needle and thread. My designs are inspired by vintage fashions of the 1920's - 1960's with bits of Victorian, 1890's Paris, Japanese street fashion, costumes, architecture, artifice, nature and human constructs, as well as the many artists and their art that surrounds me.
Custom Couture
Almost all of the existing designs are re-produceable, cut to order or made to fit. I am available for some from the ground up designs on a limited basis. Please feel free to inquire about your project.
Custom wedding party dresses (bride, bridesmaids, flower girls and accessories) are also available. I need 3 - 9 months out from your wedding date from design to completion. Wedding consultations are available for $50. This takes about 1 - 2 hours and covers dress design sketches, fabric choices, timelines, cost estimations, and other helpful information regarding fit, underpinnings, and answering many of your questions about the process.
About Kirsten A. Moore
I learned to sew at my mother's and great-grandmother's knees starting from age 3. I started making my own clothes at age 11 when I couldn't find the clothes I imagined myself in. I earned my bachelor of arts in music in 1995 from Portland State University. While i still enjoy music, I felt more drawn to fashion as a career choice. In addition to the things I make for my living, I like to quilt, knit, crochet, watch birds, cook, listen to and play music and otherwise beautify my surroundings. Lately, I have been enjoying making dance costumes for a few of my friends' dance companies. In case you were wondering, Piper Ewan is named after my pet cat who resides with me in Portland, Oregon.
